Cycling into the future.

The first "cycle photo booth" for the city of Zurich.

What’s Zurich like for cycling in 2025? The interactive photo box which transports cyclists into the future for a short time provides the answer to this question.

The future world of the city of Zurich

The concept for the ingenious machine, which demonstrates the commitment of the city in an entertaining and involving way, originates from the “Freundliche Grüsse” agency.

A signal at the entrance marks the start. A punched-out backdrop takes the rider to a future world of the city of Zurich. The cyclist passes through several laser barriers and triggers cameras which record him or her at full speed. The photos are printed on the spot and put in a cover which presents the current projects of the civil engineering office. These include the renovation of Oerlikon railway station, where the cycle photo booth has already become a crowd-puller.

Frontwork was responsible for the construction of the cycle photo booth. The specialists used aluminium-coloured MiniTec profiles for the frame design and executed the panelling with Dibond wrapped in green foil. Rugged and non-slip textured coated boards were used as base plates. The customer’s technology was also installed at Frontwork.

The installation celebrated its première during the Urban Bike Days 2016. The customer then took delivery. Further deployments are currently being planned.
