High quality, aesthetic and sophisticated

Signage & wayfinding in the Triemli City Hospital

Triemli City Hospital opened the most advanced ward building in Switzerland in the spring of 2016. As a public central hospital, it is an important cornerstone for the health care of the city and canton of Zurich. The new ward building now enables the city hospital to combine state-of-the-art medicine with the human touch in an ultramodern infrastructure. The energy-saving design which enables efficient maintenance is also geared to the future.

Wayfinding made easy

Patients, visitors and staff must be able to find their way around easily in the new environment. Triemli City Hospital commissioned the specialists of Frontwork with the implementation of the outdoor signage. The project comprised two phases: first of all, Frontwork prepared twelve wayfinding steles distributed over the vast site. Three more steles were installed at the key access points in a second phase.

Prominent lettering on the façade adorns the main entrance and the incoming goods portal.

Complex constructions

The great challenge in this project was the construction. The elements are mounted on a sophisticated base surface or background in some cases and function without any visible attachments. The quality of the visual appearance is therefore very high. The close collaboration between the public works office, the landscape architects, the hospital management, the graphic design agency and Frontwork ensured that the project could be implemented within a short space of time after a detailed planning stage.
